A reply to Ahmed Niaz's letter

Nur Jahan, Chittagong
The letter of Ahmed Niaz titled “BNP needs to show restraint” published in The Daily Star on March 27, 2013 took me by surprise. He wrote in response to my letter titled 'Govt must show restraint' published on March 15, 2013. He also wrote a letter under the heading "Of letters by Nur Jahan” which was published on March 5, 2012. I thank him for reading my letters and at the same time I want to remind him that everyone has the right to express his/her views. I do not understand why it bothers him so much. I saw on different TV channels how the police started shooting on the leaders of opposition in front of their Nayapaltan office. They raided their office and arrested a great number of leaders by breaking open the doors. The police also took away valuables and important documents of the party. Police claimed that they had recovered bombs from the office but people are familiar with these tactics of police. As Ahmed Niaz mentioned of Jamaat-Shibir, I think I should say a few words. When Gonojagoron Mancho demanded death sentence of Delwar Hossain Sayedee, the supporters of Sayedee brought out processions protesting the verdict. Women carrying brooms and children were also in the processions. They were common people but police did not hesitate to open fire and as a result many people lost their lives and thousands were injured. By the way, we have learnt that home minister made arrangements for a holiday for ADC Mehdi Hasan and his family in Singapore, who was in charge of wreaking havoc in the BNP office!(Amar Desh, 28 March 2013)
