Are we a hopeless lot?

Need for external examiners in public universities and caretaker government to hold national elections provide clear evidence that we don't trust each other. Perhaps we are the only nation in the world where a teacher doesn't trust another teacher; one person does not trust another person; and political parties don't have minimum trust and respect for each other.
