Chattogram to get air connectivity with Agartala

Chattogram will be linked by air with Agartala, the capital city of north eastern Indian state of Tripura, India's Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya M Scindia announced yesterday (October 30, 2022).

He said the Chattogram-Agartala air link is being operationanlised under the India's international Udan (flight) project.

Scindia, however, did not specify the date when Chattogram-Agartala would begin, reports our New Delhi correspondent.

He also said Imphal-Mandalay (Myanmar)-Imphal flights will also be operationalised which will expand the scope of air connectivity in the north-eastern states from national to the international level.

He was speaking after inaugurating the operations of three flights connecting five cities of north eastern states of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Manipur and Mizoram.

The enhanced aerial connectivity in the mountainous cities of the five states of north-eastern part of the country will play a vital role in creating the ease of living for the residents of region and boosting tourism and trade, said Scindia.

The minister said that in the last eight years, seven airports have been developed in the north eastern region and a Rs 500-crore corpus fund has been dedicated to the air-connectivity of the northeast.
