Indian man who met brother 74 years after Partition gets Pakistani visa

Pakistan today gave a visa to an Indian man who recently had a tearful reunion with his brother from Pakistan 74 years after the Indian subcontinent's partition separated them.

The visa will allow him to travel across the border to meet his relatives in Pakistan, our New Delhi correspondent reports citing local media.

The video of the brothers -- Sika Khan Habib of India and his brother Md Siddique from Pakistan -- hugging each other while weeping went viral on social media.

Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi tweeted today that Habib has been issued a visa to meet Siddique and his family living in Pakistan.

A YouTube channel had facilitated a meeting between the two brothers during a visit to the revered Sikh shrine Kartarpur Gurdwara in Pakistan's Punjab province.

Indians visiting the Kartarpur Gurudwara do not need a visa under a bilateral pact with Pakistan.

The partition in 1947 saw Habib ending up in India and Siddique in Pakistan and they never met again for 74 years.
