Man arrested for murdering aunt in Manikganj
A man has been arrested in a case filed over the murder of his aunt over a family dispute in Manikganj.
Alamgir Hossain, 28, of Barai village was arrested from a house in Jabra village under Ghior upazila this morning, reports our Manikganj correspondent quoting police.
The victim is Arifa Begum, of the same village, his mother's younger sister.
According to police, case statement and family sources, Arifa and elder sister Bimala Begum had been living in their father's house with their children. The two sometimes quarrelled.
Yesterday, around 8:30am, Alamgir hit his aunt on the head with a brick during an argument.
Critically injured, she was first taken to Manikganj Colonel Malek Medical College Hospital and later moved to Sohrawardi Medical College Hospital in Dhaka where she died last afternoon.
Manikganj police yesterday recovered the body when it was brought home and sent it to Manikganj 250-bed General Hospital morgue for post-mortem.
Since the incident, the accused Alamgir Hossain and his mother Bimala had been absconding.
Arifa's son Suman Mia yesterday filed a murder case with the police station accusing the duo.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Manikganj Sadar Police Station Abdur Rauf Sarkar said preliminary investigation revealed that the woman died being hit by a brick over a dispute over the entrance road to the house.
He said efforts are on to arrest the other accused.
