Students of Jagannath University (JnU), who went on a hunger strike to press home their three-point demand, called off their protest yesterday evening, 35 hours after authorities assured them of meeting two of their demands.

The decision was announced this morning by the provost of Hossain Shaheed Suhrawardy Hall, Bazlur Rahman Molla.

The members whose appointments have been cancelled are Professor Dr Shahnaz Sarker, Md Munir Hossain, Brigadier General (Retd) Dr AF Jaglul Ahmed, Dr Md Mizanur Rahman, Sabbir Ahmad Chowdhury, and Dr Syeda Shahina Sobhan.
