PM pushes for virtual court facilities in prisons

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today asked the authorities concerned to keep provisions for joining virtual courts in prisons when they are drawing up development proposal for jails.

Talking to reporters at a press briefing, Planning Minister MA Mannan said the premier made the comments while chairing a meeting of the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council in Dhaka.

New jail building proposals or building renovation projects must include facilities to attended virtual courts, she said, adding that once the facilities are in place, there will be no trouble of taking suspects from one court to another.The issue came up during discussion on a revision to "Mymensingh Central jail rebuilding" project.

"We have to be very careful when bringing accused militants. I fully agree with her," said Mannan.
