Remain united for country and people’s interests: Fakhrul

BNP secretary general says Eid-ul-Azha teaches sacrifice, devotion and truthfulness through worship

BNP Secretary General and Local Government Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today called on people to remain united for the interests of the country, its people and Muslims across the world, setting aside all divisions.

Speaking to journalists at his Kalibari residence in Thakurgaon municipality after offering Eid-ul-Azha prayers at the Boro math of Thakurgaon Government Boys’ High School, he extended Eid greetings to all.

“People across Bangladesh and Muslims around the world are observing Eid-ul-Azha today through sacrifice,” he said.

He said the spirit of Qurbani is not about killing, but about devotion, truthfulness and attaining closeness to Allah through sacrifice and worship.

“On this day, we appeal to the people of Bangladesh to forget all differences and remain united for the interests of the country, the people and Muslims,” he added.

Fakhrul also prayed for peace and well-being for Muslims around the world and expressed hope that conflicts and wars would not bring further suffering to people.

He further prayed that Allah accepts the sacrifices offered during Eid-ul-Azha.

Earlier, after the Eid prayers, he exchanged Eid greetings and pleasantries with devotees.

District BNP President Mirza Faisal Amin, General Secretary Poygum Ali and Thakurgaon municipality unit President Shariful Islam Sharif, among others, accompanied him.
