One held over rape of woman in Bhola

A person was arrested last night in a case filed over the rape of a woman in Bhola’s Monpura upazila early Saturday.

The arrestee is one Miraj, of Hazirhat union, said police.

The victim filed a case with Monpura Police Station over the incident on Sunday, said its Officer-in-Charge Md Farid Uddin.

According to the case statement, some three to four people, led by one Miraj, broke into the victim's house around 1:00am on Saturday and raped her in turns in front of her two children.

The woman's husband was not at home at the time.

The accused also looted valuables, including gold ornaments, from the house, added the case details.

The victim's father was injured as Miraj hit him with a sharp weapon on Sunday as he tried to catch Miraj. He was taken to Noakhali for better treatment.

Police are trying to arrest the other accused involved in the incident, said the OC.
