Don't propagate hatred

Khursheed Khan, California, USA
This morning I awoke to an alarming article about the forty eight homes that were recently torched without regard to life, inside the complex. A few days ago we read about allegations of brutality by the security forces. Like all peace-loving human beings I wanted to share my personal thoughts from a long distance. I would hope you will forgive my limited knowledge on specifics but consider the essence of the thesis. Can we not cool off the rhetoric and look at our legacy for our children? Can we not cool off for a minute and think about the consequences of our actions and the domino effect it creates. Do we not have enough examples of 'terror' around the world to know bloodshed is not the solution? Does anyone disagree with the HRW memo on Bangladesh on the current crisis? And why? In my humble opinion, it is an oxymoron to term 'leaders myopic in Bangladesh'. Democracy is earned, of course, but it comes with a great price tag. Of course, all so called democratic countries are inherently un-democratic and you don't even have to blink to come up with an example. So, why am I rambling and what is the point of writing this piece? Because, like you all, I am concerned beyond imagination about the future we leave behind for our children and grand children. Without a little empathy and devoid of an iota of humanity, such acts of barbarism only fuel the fire that has begun to rage. I urge you to help unite all Bangladeshis... Please don't propagate hatred, however justified, as it will continue to burn with ever increasing viciousness.
