Bangladesh Fire Service and Civil Defence has dismissed a message circulating on social media that claims to provide guidance on high temperatures and precautionary measures for the coming days.

According to a press release issued today, the viral notice -- attributed to the “Director General, Civil Defence” -- has no official basis, as “no message regarding high temperatures and precautionary measures has been issued by the Department of Fire Service and Civil Defence.”

It added that the circulating advisory for the periods of April 29 to May 12, 2026 and May 25 to June 4, 2026 is false and unrelated to the department.

The viral notice claimed that a “high alert” had been issued warning people not to go outside between 10 am and 3 pm during April 29-May 12 due to alleged extreme temperatures of 45°C to 55°C.

The statement from Fire Service and Civil Defence urged the public not to be misled by such misinformation.
