The government has decided to provide an additional Tk 1 crore to the family of slain Inqilab Mancha spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi as livelihood support, Finance Adviser Salehuddin Ahmed said yesterday.

Earlier, the government had allocated Tk 1 crore for purchasing a flat in Dhaka for Hadi’s family.

The finance adviser disclosed the decision while speaking to journalists after chairing a meeting of the Advisers Council Committee on Government Purchase at the Cabinet Division Conference Room in the Bangladesh Secretariat.

Responding to a question, Salehuddin Ahmed said two separate allocations have been made for Hadi’s family.

“Tk 1 will be given from the Ministry of Finance for purchasing a flat or house. The full amount may not be required,” he said.

“Another Tk 1 crore will be provided separately from the Chief Adviser’s Office to support the family’s livelihood,” he added.

Previously, Hadi’s brother was appointed as a second secretary at the Bangladesh Assistant High Commission in Birmingham, the United Kingdom.

Sources said the money has been allocated to buy a flat at the government officers’ residential building, Doel Tower, in Lalmatia, Dhaka.
