Helping the elderly people

A recent report of this daily based on a study conducted by the United Nations and a rights group touched me. The story was of a 75-year-old man who lives in Afghanistan. He spends most of his day trying to sell toothbrushes and toothpastes on a busy street corner of Kabul. His income is just $6 a day. So, his family has to eat only potatoes and vegetables. Yet, it is getting difficult for him to continue doing this work due to old age diseases. The report also says that by the year 2050, for the first time in history, seniors over the age of 60 will outnumber children under the age of 15. Elderly people, especially those who are poor live in miserable condition in our country. I urge NGOs to help these elderly people by raising social awareness and organising CSR activities.
