Independence Day celebrations in Los Angeles

Ishtiaq A Chisti, Long Beach, California, USA
There comes a time in a nation's history when even its most lethargic citizen wakes up to move the nation for greater heights of glory. 1971 and forty two years later, 2013 are two of those times in Bangladesh's history that will forever be etched in our memories. No matter where we live, be it Bandarban or Los Angeles, Bangladeshis and all those who love Bangladesh cherish the day when that country began its struggle to be a proud and independent nation  March 26, 1971. We are now witnessing the manifestation of that magnificent event being played out today by the new generation Shahbagh. I would like to invite all to join the celebrations in Los Angeles on March 23, 2013 at Shatto Recreation Centre (3191 W Fourth St./Vermont, Los Angeles). The event will start at 4 pm with a Grand Mela followed by a cultural program. One of the famous performers of the new generation, Arnob will join us. It will be great to partake of delicious Bengali food, enjoy its rich cultural heritage and pay homage to the martyrs of Bangladesh Independence.
