Int'l Mother Language Day in Canada
One of my college friends studies in Manitoba, Canada. I asked him what the native Canadians typically do on the 21st February, the International Mother Language Day. His response was that the Canadians don't actually do much, mainly because they don't really know that it is the International Mother Language Day.
We greatly esteem the sacrifice that the people of Bangladesh made for their mother tongue, but it is true that many people of the world don't know anything about it. They don't know the history of courage that these people showed or the sacrifices they made.
We need to respect our heroes from within our hearts instead of making extravagant exhibitions or processions. We need to take inspirations from them and let others know of them too, so that they can do the same. My friend said that there is a students' association in Canada that is trying to convey this information to the general people. Individually and collectively we should do the same, whether we live in Bangladesh or abroad.
