IUBAT celebrates 35th founding anniversary
The International University of Business Agriculture and Technology (IUBAT), Bangladesh’s first private university, celebrated its 35th founding anniversary on Friday, January 16, at its permanent campus in Uttara.
The anniversary programme was formally inaugurated by Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Abdur Rab, says a press release.
The celebrations began in the morning with the hoisting of the national flag and the IUBAT flag, followed by the national anthem. Floral wreaths were later placed at the grave of the university’s founder, Professor Dr M Alimullah Miyan. Special prayers and munajat were offered seeking eternal peace for his departed soul. Balloons were released and white doves were set free as symbols of peace.
At 10:00 am, a cake-cutting ceremony was held with the participation of teachers and students from all faculties and departments. Those present included Pro Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Mohammad Mahmudur Rahman, Treasurer Professor Selina Nargis, Registrar Professor Dr Md Momtazur Rahman, Controller of Examinations Brigadier General Dr Md Zahid Hossain (retd), Dean of the Faculty of Engineering Professor Dr Md Monirul Islam, and Dean of the Faculty of Business Mozaffar Alam Chowdhury, along with chairpersons, coordinators, faculty members, and officials.
A special discussion session was also organised, bringing together teachers, students, and alumni to reflect on IUBAT’s achievements in education and research and to discuss future development plans.
Founded in 1991 by Professor Dr M Alimullah Miyan, former Director of the Institute of Business Administration at the University of Dhaka, IUBAT is recognised as one of the leading private universities in Bangladesh. Over the years, the university has built a strong reputation through its emphasis on quality education and research excellence.
