Kennedy's political humour
On 22nd November 2013 the 50th death anniversary of J F Kennedy was observed. John Fitzgerald Kennedy, popularly known as JKF or Jack was the youngest and 35th US president who was assassinated in November 1963 only after serving his country for two years.
Kennedy was blessed with so many human qualities. His sense of humor was very strong which he used judiciously. For instance, when a young boy asked him how he became a war hero, he gracefully responded: “it was absolutely involuntary; they sunk my boat.” During the 1960 campaign when his opponents raised question about his wealth, he simply replied, “I just received the following wire from my generous Daddy. 'Dear Jack, don't buy a single vote more than is necessary. I'll be damned if I am going to pay for a landslide.”
To face difficult situations Kennedy used to apply the personal rapport he established with the people of the world due to his sense of humour. Perhaps present political leaders including those in our country can adopt Kennedy's splendid wit while handling hot political issues.
