Murder of environmental activists!

Professor M Zahidul Haque, Dean, Faculty of Agriculture, Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, Dhaka
According to Care2, in the last decade, 30 environmentalists and human rights activists have been murdered in Thailand, usually for bringing the injustices around the country to people's attention. Fewer than 20 percent of their killers have ever been prosecuted. The most recent case is the murder of Prajob Nao-opas, an environmentalist who led a campaign to reveal the toxic waste being dumped in the Chachoengsao province of Thailand. In the service of humanity and environmental protection, Prajob Nao-opas has sacrificed his life. Care2 submitted a petition to the Thai government to push the government to bring the murderers of Prajob Nao-opas and other activists to book and realise the noble goal of Prajob Nao-opas. It is sincerely expected that the Thai government will take immediate action over the petition.
