Banglastan! (March 7, 2013) Nabarun Dey Anti-India rhetoric of past six decades has led Pakistan nowhere. Both countries could have benefited from good neighbourly relations instead. The result is Indian economy is now seventeen times better than that of Pakistan, while it continues to spend on weapons of mass destruction. Khaleda Zia's 'Pakistani' mindset during her regime has harmed Bangladesh extensively. By refusing to meet the highest dignitary from India, she has shown her immaturity. No wonder her compatriots are encouraging her for boosting their confidence. Sumit Mazumdar These Jamaati people fail to understand why anyone in his/her right mind would want to follow Pakistan. Every day 50-100 Pakistanis are dying from suicide bombings, shootings and other mindless atrocities. We all know that Pakistan is a failed state. S K How come a particular quarter dares to post such anti-state comment on a Facebook page? What are the government agencies doing? They should immediately launch an investigation into it, identify the persons involved and nab them. Such anti-state activities in the name of press freedom and freedom of expression in a democratic state must not be tolerated. Jay Male It is a crazy idea from Jamaat supporters. It shows their motive and action in recent days whereby its supporters killed people, damaged properties and attempted to destroy the economy of Bangladesh. X-way Do they have any document to prove these stories? Chandro Their self-made stories will bring no good to the country. Kids will also understand their trickeries. Shame on them! M Shafiqula We are quite all right with our present identity. What pains us now is the absence of functional democracy in the country where both the ruling party and opposition perform responsibly inside as well as outside parliament. Regarding our foreign policy, we have to carry forward the principles of 'friendship to all and malice to none' instead of so-called pro-Pakistani or pro-Indian foreign policy. Anisur Rahman Talking about forming an alliance with Pakistan and changing the name of the country from Bangladesh to Banglastan is nothing but treason of the highest degree. The perpetrators of such crimes must be punished very severely. Usha Padiyar Does Basher Kella mean to say that the war East Pakistanis (present Bangladeshis) waged against Pakistan for Independence in 1971 was a mistake? He says if Bangladesh and Pakistan reunite, the new country can be named 'Banglastan'; but from past experience, he should have known that Pakistan will dominate Bangladesh, so the new Union will become 'Pagladesh!' That will be like out of the frying pan into the fire.
