Awami League repeats what BNP did nine years ago (March 14, 2013)

Excellent article, nothing can be truer than this. While I am with Mahfuz Anam, I also wonder if we, people of Bangladesh are to some extent responsible for these. What I really want to focus is, our love and trust are co0nfined to only these two political parties. I am sure many of us who hated BNP in 2004 will vote for this party again in the coming election, as Mr. Anam said: "public memory is short."
The only feasible solution I see is to bring a third party or a couple of parties into the game, and let AL and BNP realise that they are no longer coming to power alternately. Do we, the voters have the courage to vote for a third party? Let them come, even if they think they are not the fittest. We have had enough of the so-called learned politicians. All we need is good people in power, even if they are devoid of any political knowledge.

The writer should also give pointer about the path ahead.

There were opportunities far beyond those listed. A government with that majority could have performed miracles instead of cutting each others' throats.

Dear editor, I salute you for this timely piece of writing. In fact, what you have written has reflected the thoughts and opinions of the majority about the self-destructive political practices in our country. However, next time, why don't you write about the negative role of the news media who are biased and support the wrongdoings of the governments? Media is an important institution of a country, and I think our politicised media has contributed a lot to entice their favourite political parties to continue with their "zero-sum" game where the guiding principle is "I for myself and the rest for the devil"!

Thank you for speaking for me.

The other day, a TV channel anchor announced that after 1990, police raid of a party office has never taken place!! The parties should remember that "As you sow, so you reap."
