The "jig-jag" stairway!
This refers to Islam's report on the attractive tourist facility in the Garo hills, published in your March 6 issue. It is imperative for the appropriate government authorities to ensure that the approach road to the tourist spot from Bakhshiganj upazila headquarters is made safe for easy access to potential tourists.
Our 'Tourist Board', also a semi-government organisation, should persistently follow up on the matter until the approach road is made totally safe easy for traffic. Once this is done, they should then publicise the facilities available at the tourist location to attract potential tourists from home and abroad.
One of the attractions of the place is a tourist observation tower, which gives a panoramic view of the surrounding forest, hills and dales around the place. The tower is accessed by a zigzag stairway, which in your issue is spelled as "jig-jag" instead of the correct spelling "zigzag"! Such a mistake was not expected from a premier English language newspaper like The Daily Star.
