Walton receives ICSB award for fifth time, ICMAB honour for fourth year
Walton Hi-Tech Industries PLC celebrated its recent corporate governance achievements at a programme held at its corporate office in Bashundhara, Dhaka, on Saturday.
The company has won the ICSB National Award for Corporate Governance Excellence for five consecutive years and the ICMAB Best Corporate Award for four consecutive years. Walton organised the event to mark the milestones.
Deputy Governor of Bangladesh Bank Dr Md Habibur Rahman attended the programme as chief guest. Chairman of the Investment Corporation of Bangladesh Professor Abu Ahmed was present as special guest. Walton Hi-Tech Industries PLC Vice-Chairman S M Ashraful Alam, Managing Director S M Mahbubul Alam and senior officials also attended.
In his remarks, Dr Md Habibur Rahman congratulated Walton on the awards. He said Walton is ahead of many global brands in product quality, technology and pricing. He added that the company has reduced import dependence and is earning foreign currency by exporting products to many countries. He expressed hope that Walton would further strengthen its global position through AI- and IoT-based products.
Professor Abu Ahmed said Walton has transformed the local electronics market. He noted that foreign brands once dominated the sector, but Walton has achieved market leadership through investment and expansion. He said Walton has shown that Bangladesh can produce high-tech products and called for supportive policies for strong local companies.
Walton Managing Director S M Mahbubul Alam said the company follows compliance across factory operations, workplace management, financial reporting and tax payments. He said Walton has also received the SAFA Gold Award for corporate governance and achieved LEED Platinum Certification for its Mold & Die Factory Complex. He added that Walton has won the Excellence in Investment Award 2025 and the SDG Brand Champion Award–2025.
He said Walton has installed the country’s largest floating solar power project and has taken steps to set up Bangladesh’s first lithium-ion battery manufacturing plant. He added that the plant will help reduce dependence on imported batteries once it becomes operational.
In his closing remarks, Vice-Chairman S M Ashraful Alam said Walton does not compromise on compliance. He said the awards from ICSB and ICMAB reflect the company’s commitment to transparency and accountability.
The programme concluded with a cake-cutting ceremony to formally celebrate the achievements.
