Why couldn't Khaleda Zia show courtesy to Indian president?
I was astonished to learn that the opposition leader Khaleda Zia cancelled her appointment with Indian President Pranab Mukherjee, while he was on a visit to Bangladesh. This is very unfortunate. How could she do it when she herself invited him when she went to New Delhi just a couple of months back? Are we Bangladeshis that much discourteous? Security reasons are absolutely unacceptable. Even if that was true, she could at least request for a time change. It was more shocking when her advisers, who are known as veteran diplomats like Mr. Shamsher Mobin, Reaz Rahman, etc., were around her. I think she was ill-advised. This was a good opportunity for her to discuss the current political turmoil in the country. This has also given a wrong signal to our neighbour and may adversely affect her political stand.
