The UN is looking to strengthen the operations of national NGOs that have been providing support to the Rohingyas on Bhasan Char, said outgoing UN Resident Coordinator Mia Seppo.

The government has resumed the process for relocating Rohingyas from Cox’s Bazar to Bhasan Char, said officials.   

Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen yesterday hoped that Myanmar would take back Rohingyas gradually as the pressure on Myanmar would be mounted following the recent adoption of resolution in the United Nations.

Adoption of a resolution on the Rohingya by consensus at the UN has created momentum towards resolving the Rohingya crisis, and Dhaka now needs to amplify diplomatic efforts towards a sustainable Rohingya solution, said analysts.
