Dhadak disappoints?

With almost 50 crores in four days, 'Dhadak' is certainly not a commercial failure. However, the film is being heavily criticised for being a poor imitation of the source, 'Sairat'.

Whereas Sairat is a stellar showcase of the unforgiving world of politics and societal pressure, Dhadak attempts to portray that, while also trying to retain glamour for the debut of Sridevi's daughter, Jhanvi. Moreover, the issue of caste has been completely removed from the film in order to avoid controversy, even though it is a remake of a film based on inter-caste romance. For now, Dhadak is yet another case of a good story being muffled by a hotchpotch of traditional Bollywood formula.
