Cannes Film Festival is first and foremost an opportunity to look at pretty dresses.

After a couple of weeks to take in their Met Gala choices, designers and stylists alike are able to recoup and bring out 10 days' worth of quality A-list fashion ensembles: it's a marathon, not a sprint, but, make no mistake, there are winners and losers.
