Australia’s tour of Bangladesh rescheduled
Australia's Test and T20I tours of Bangladesh have been pushed to a later date, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) informed.
Australia were supposed to tour Bangladesh for a two-match T20I series in October of this year and for a two-Test series in February next year. However, both the series have been pushed to a later date after consultation between the two boards.
The BCB CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury informed that the previous commitments have now changed after the introduction of the new FTP (Future Tour Plan).
"The arrangement for the two-match T20I series between Bangladesh and Australia was as per the previous FTP schedule. You know the member countries in the last ICC meeting in July introduced a new FTP after the inclusion of Test championship and one-day league,"
"According to the new FTP, we will play the two-Test series in June-July 2020 instead of hosting it in February." explained Nizamuddin.
Meanwhile BCB's cricket operations chairman, Akram Khan informed that Australia will now be playing a three-match T20I series instead of the two-match series which they were originally supposed to play.
"Initially, we were expecting to host Australia for a two-match Twenty20 International series in October, but now they have agreed to play three T20 internationals and it will be played ahead of the World T20 in India, though we are yet to finalise the date." told Akram.
