Local coaches summoned for not playing leg-spinners
Two local coaches, plying their trade in the National Cricket League (NCL) have been summoned by Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Nazmul Hassan for not fielding leg-spinners in their sides.
BCB urged that more leg-spinners should be brought up through the ranks in local cricket. Bangladesh cricket have suffered in recent years due to dearth of quality leg-spinners. Speaking to the press today, BCB president said that the coaches must answer for not playing leg-spinners in the second round of the NCL which started today.
"In this ongoing National Cricket League, even after being instructed and after a lot of discussions, still Rishad [Hossain] was not played [by Rangpur division]. Also Likhon [Jubair Hossain] was not fielded [by Dhaka Division].
"We have summoned the coaches to explain why they did not play them [the two leg-spinners]. They must answer. Why would not they play them even after being instructed? Both Dhaka and Rangpur coaches have been summoned. Leg spinners need to be played! If they do not play, how will any good leg spinners emerge?" told Nazmul to the reporters in Mirpur today.
Jubair Hossain Likhon, who plays for Dhaka Division, was not named in the playing eleven despite being on the squad. Rishad Hossain of Rangpur Division was not even named in the squad for the second round of NCL.
