SHIKHAR DHAWAN
Shikhar Dhawan came into this World Cup under a bit of pressure after a flop-show in the tri-series where India lost all their matches. The left-handed dasher was one of those who underperformed during that tournament, accumulating only 49 runs in the four innings. A lesser man might have buckled under pressure and succumbed to the criticism, starting the World Cup in that sort of form. But getting back to form to was always going to be a matter of time for Dhawan, who was thought to be a special talent from a very young age and proved his worth in the Indian team, after debuting at a very mature age. So far in this World Cup, Dhawan has scored 333 runs at an average of 66.6 with two centuries, including the one against Ireland yesterday. That is the hallmark of a good batsman.
