Anamul in focus in BCB XI’s match against SL
In-form Anamul Haque has been drafted in the squad for the two-day warm-up match game against Sri Lanka, starting from May 10 at BKSP.
The focus in this match will be on whether the right-hander can carry his stupendous form against Sri Lanka, who will arrive in Dhaka tomorrow to play two Test matches against Bangladesh, to draw the attention of the national selectors.
Anamul's dreamlike season in the recently-concluded Dhaka Premier League saw him amass 1138 runs, a world-record in List A cricket. He beat Tom Moody's record of 917 runs, set in 1991 for Worcestershire.
Having started on a high in his debut series back in 2012, Anamul last appeared for the national team during Bangladesh's tour of Sri Lanka in 2019. Many think a national team call-up for Anamaul should be on the cards following his good form, but the opener finds himself in a competitive scenario against some of the best names in Bangladesh cricket.
Pacer Abu Jayed Rahi, who came hard on team management after being dropped from the squad for the two-match Test series, was also included in the side alongside other national discards like Mohammad Mithun, Shadman Islam and Saif Hassan.
BCB XI FOR TWO-DAY PRACTICE MATCH
Mohammad Mithun (Captain), Shadman Islam, Anamul Haque, Shahadat Hossain, Zakir Hasan, Saif Hassan, Mosaddek Hossain, Rishad Hossain, Md Enamul Haque, Mushfique Hassan, Ripon Mondol, Mukidul Islam Mugdho, Amite Hassan and Abu Jayed Rahi.
