Bangladesh stars make big gains in ICC Test rankings
Bangladesh's recent ICC World Test Championship series triumph over Pakistan has helped a host of their red-ball stars make big gains on the latest ICC Men's Test Player Rankings.
The Tigers registered an emphatic 2-0 series win over their close rival and moved up to fifth place on the World Test Championship standings as a result.
Veteran right-hander Mushfiqur Rahim led the way for Bangladesh with a series-best 259 runs from four innings and that helped the evergreen 39-year-old move up 10 spots to equal 16th on the latest list for Test batters.
Mushfiqur wasn't the only Bangladesh batter to make gains, with fellow right-hander Litton Das moving up 14 spots to 24th following his haul of 239 runs across the series.
It was a similar story on the updated rankings for Test bowlers, with Bangladesh trio Taijul Islam (up two places to 11th with a new career-high rating, Mehidy Hasan Miraz (up two slots to 25th) and Nahid Rana (up 10 spots to 54th) all rising the updated charts following some impressive hauls against Pakistan.
Taijul also gained three spots to move to 29th on the list for Test all-rounders, while Pakistan will be buoyed by the fact that Khurram Shahzad re-entered the Test bowler rankings in 49th place after he made his first Test appearance since the start of 2025 during the second fixture in Sylhet.
There were also some changes to the updated ODI rankings following the completion of a tri-series that featured Nepal, USA and Scotland as part of the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup League 2 competition.
Hosts Nepal picked up three victories during the tri-series and Aasif Sheikh (up five spots to equal 81st) and Dipendra Singh Airee (up eight places to equal 91st) were rewarded as they made ground on the latest rankings for ODI batters as a result.
Nepal teammates Sandeep Lamichhane (up four slots to 32nd) and Lalit Rajbanshi (up six spots to equal 47th) made eye-catching improvement on the list for ODI bowlers, while Scotland were boosted by gains for star all-rounder Brandon McMullen (up four rungs to 49th) on the list for ODI batters.
USA spinner Nosthush Kenjige (up 10 slots to 49th) was among those who made ground on the list for ODI bowlers, while teammate Milind Kumar (up four places to equal 18th) was the big mover on the list for ODI all-rounders.
