The elections for the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Board of Directors will be held on June 7, as the BCB Election Commission on Saturday announced the full schedule for the 2026 polls.

According to the schedule, the draft voters’ list will be published on May 17, while objections to the list can be submitted on May 18. Hearings on the objections will take place on May 19, with the final voters’ list set to be announced later that day.

Nomination forms will be distributed on May 20 and 21, while submissions will be accepted on May 21 and 22. The scrutiny of nominations and publication of the provisional candidates’ list will take place on May 23.

Objections against candidates and related hearings are scheduled for May 24, while withdrawal of candidature and the announcement of the final list of candidates will be made on May 25.

Applications for postal and e-ballots will also be accepted on May 25. Between June 1 and 6, postal and e-ballot papers will be sent to eligible voters, who must cast their votes by 1:00pm on election day.

Voting will take place at the boardroom of the BCB in Mirpur from 10:00am to 4:00pm on June 7, with the election results expected to be announced at 6:00pm.

A total of 23 directors from three different categories will be elected. Two additional directors will join the board as nominees of the National Sports Council (NSC).

Earlier, on May 13, the BCB constituted a three-member Election Commission to oversee the election process. Senior Advocate Ahsanul Karim has been appointed Chief Election Commissioner, while the other two members are Md. Israil Hawlader, Police Commissioner of Gazipur Metropolitan Police, and A. B. M. Ehsanul Mamun, Deputy Secretary and Director (Planning and Development) at the NSC.

The previous BCB board, led by Aminul Islam Bulbul, was dissolved by the NSC on April 7 following allegations of widespread irregularities during last year’s October 6 elections.

On the same day, the NSC formed an 11-member ad hoc committee, appointing former national captain Tamim Iqbal as its president.

At the time, the NSC instructed the committee to organise the election within three months, setting a deadline of July 6. The ad hoc committee earlier this month started election process when they invited nominations for 192 councillors from various associations, clubs, and organisations, with the deadline for submissions set for May 16, which was today.
