Ebadot injured after Taskin, Shoriful

Bangladesh paceman Ebadot Hossain was bowling the 49th over of the DPL match for his side Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi at Mirpur when he went off injured after Rupganj Tigers' Nasum Ahmed smashed a delivery back at the bowler which hit Ebadot's right hand while he was taking evasive action.

Ebadot, who had bowled seven overs before that delivery, could not complete the over, immediately calling for attention from the sidelines. The ball was an overpitched one outside the leg-stump with Nasum making room to play the shot. Cramped for space, Nasum hit it straight, leading to the ball injuring Bangladesh's only leading Test pacer who had been uninjured following injuries to both Taskin Ahmed and Shoriful Islam.

"The webbing split between his fingers and there was a one-inch wide cut. I had a look at him and he was sent to Apollo for stitches. He may not need scans. He will need a few stiches and if that is all there is to the injury, it usually takes a week to heal," BCB chief physician Dr. Debashish Chowdhury told The Daily Star today.

"In case the scan is done, we will know the update by today," he added.

Whether there is any injury to the bone will be revealed by the scan. For now, Bangladesh will be sweating out the fact that three key components of their pace attack is injured ahead of the Sri Lanka series at home. Both Taskin and Shoriful are slated to go abroad for their injury troubles.
