Former Bangladesh coach Siddons named Sri Lanka women’s head coach
Sri Lanka Cricket on Thursday confirmed the appointment of former Bangladesh men’s team head coach Jamie Siddons as the new head coach of the women’s team.
The former Australian cricketer will begin his one-year stint on March 16, 2026 and will take on the responsibility of preparing the side for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in June-July in England.
Siddon’s first assignment will be Sri Lanka Women’s Tour of Bangladesh, which is scheduled to take place in April–May 2026.
In a fine first-class career in Australia stretching 16 years, Siddons captained South Australia as well as Victoria. With 10,643 runs in Sheffield Shield, he is the third-highest run-scorer in Australia’s premier domestic competition.
His only international appearance came in an ODI against Pakistan in October 1988.
A Level 3 qualified coach, Siddons has experience coaching at the highest level as he served as the head coach of the Bangladesh men’s team from 2007 to 2011. He has also coached South Australia from 2015 to 2020 and Wellington Firebirds, New Zealand, from 2011 to 2015.
Earlier this week, Sri Lanka defeated the West Indies by nine wickets to clinch the three-match women's T20I series 2-0.
