Miraz joins Guyana Amazon Warriors in CPL

Bangladesh all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz is set to represent Guyana Amazon Warriors in the ongoing Caribbean Premier League (CPL), the cricketer confirmed in a post on his official Facebook page on Monday.

“A new challenge awaits. Mehidy Hasan Miraz is set to represent Guyana Amazon Warriors in the Caribbean Premier League,” the post read.

It will be the second time the 28-year-old has been picked by a CPL franchise. Miraz was selected by Trinbago Knight Riders in 2017 -- his first call-up to an overseas franchise league -- but did not get the chance to play a match that season.

He had to wait another eight years for his next opportunity in a foreign franchise league, when Lahore Qalandars picked him for the Pakistan Super League in 2025. However, he was again unable to break into the playing XI.

Miraz finally ended his wait to feature in an overseas franchise league this year when he represented Galle Gallants in the Lanka Premier League. His campaign, however, proved disappointing, with the all-rounder scoring just 44 runs and going wicketless in four matches.

Interestingly, all three franchises that have picked Miraz in overseas leagues have gone on to win their respective tournaments in the same season.

Guyana have made a perfect start to this year’s CPL, winning all three of their matches so far. They are currently fourth in the seven-team table with six points and have seven league matches remaining before the playoffs. The tournament runs until September 20.
