Bangladesh veteran star Mushfiqur Rahim, who had been stranded in Jeddah following the escalation of tension in the Middle East, returned home today, the cricketer’s wife wrote in a social media post.

“Alhumdulillah Mushfiq came back home safely. Allah SWT made everything easier for him!” read a Facebook post from his wife, Jannatul Kefayat Mondy. She thanked family and friends for their concern and mental support and also wished that the ongoing regional tension would cool off.

Newly appointed State Minister for Youth and Sports Aminul Haque on Sunday had also said that he was personally monitoring Mushfiqur’s situation and had talked to the cricketer.

Earlier in the day, Mushfiqur himself had posted on his verified social media account that he had boarded a Biman Bangladesh flight and would land in Dhaka on Monday.

The cricketer had previously, on Saturday, relayed through a social media post that, having flown to Dubai, he had to return to Jeddah and was stranded along with thousands of passengers.

“We have flown this morning from Jeddah to Dubai via EK 0806, but unfortunately, due to the war between USA, Israel and Iran, all the flights returned to Jeddah, and now I am in Jeddah airport with thousands of passengers… Only Almighty Allah knows when and how we will be able to go to Dhaka along with other Bangladeshi people. Seeking prayers."
