BCB director Yasir Mohammad Foysal Ashiq has tendered his resignation, citing personal reasons, becoming the third member of the elected board to step down.

Yasir, who joined the Bangladesh Cricket Board through the National Sports Council (NSC) quota in the last BCB elections, submitted his resignation to the board’s central office on Thursday.

“I have resigned due to personal reasons. I have submitted it to BCB’s central offices. There was no issue of interference in my decision,” Yasir told The Daily Star.

He follows Ishtiaque Sadeque and Amjad Hossain, both of whom had earlier resigned from their directorial positions, also citing personal reasons.

However, BCB president Aminul Islam Bulbul said in a recent interview with The Daily Star that the resignations of Ishtiaque and Amjad had not been accepted.

The NSC quota appointments during the formation of the board after the October 6 elections last year had drawn scrutiny.

Yasir Mohammad Foysal Ashiq and Ishfaq Ahsan were initially nominated as NSC directors. However, Ishfaq’s reported affiliation with the ousted Awami League regime sparked criticism.

The NSC later revised its nominations, replacing Ishfaq with current women’s wing chairman Rubaba Dowla as the NSC-nominated director.
