Parvez’s all-round brilliance gives U-23 side big win over Malaysia
Bangladesh U-23 made a commanding start to their three-match 50-over series against Malaysia, winning the opening match by 153 runs at the Bashundhara Sports Complex on Wednesday.
The standout performer was Sheikh Parvez Jibon, who contributed an unbeaten 35 off 18 balls before returning with an outstanding 5-16 to bowl Malaysia out for just 137 in 40.5 overs.
After Bangladesh slipped to 11-3 after electing to bat first, Md Abdullah (94 off 100) and Ahrar Amin Paean (61 off 62) steadied the innings, helping the hosts reach 290-9 in 50 overs.
Malaysia's Ahmad Zubaidi top-scored with 42 off 66 balls, but their chase never gained momentum.
The second match will be played at the same venue on Friday. Bangladesh's High Performance team had earlier swept Malaysia 2-0 in the preceding T20 series.
