Rana to ‘stick to process’ in Pakistan Test series after PSL success
Bangladesh pacer Nahid Rana returned home yesterday after making a strong impact for Peshawar Zalmi, helping them lift the Pakistan Super League (PSL) title on Sunday.
The young fast bowler justified the faith placed in him by the franchise, who flew him in specifically for the final. He conceded just 22 runs in his four overs while claiming two crucial wickets against Hyderabad Kingsmen in the title clash.
“It feels great. I’m happy I could fulfil the expectations the team had of me,” he said upon his return.
After a brief three-day stint in Pakistan, Nahid returned home on Monday evening, along with Zalmi captain Babar Azam and fellow pacer Khurram Shahzad, carrying confidence ahead of the upcoming two-match Test series against Pakistan.
This was Nahid’s first appearance in an overseas franchise league, and he made an immediate impact. In five matches, he picked up nine wickets while maintaining an impressive economy rate of 5.44 runs per over.
The pacer’s recent form has been remarkable. He was named Player of the Tournament in Bangladesh’s ODI series against New Zealand, further cementing his growing reputation. With his PSL success boosting his confidence, Nahid now turns his attention to a new challenge.
“Test cricket and T20 cricket are completely different. I will try to stick to my process and continue doing what I have been doing so far,” he said.
The first Test will be held at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur from May 8.
