Rishad named Hurricanes’ Big Bash player of the year
Bangladesh leg-spinner Rishad Hossain was named Hobart Hurricanes Big Bash League Player of the Year by Cricket Tasmania during their annual awards night on Wednesday.
Rishad, who made his Big Bash debut for the Hobart Hurricanes this season, enjoyed a breakthrough campaign, claiming 15 wickets in 12 matches at an economy rate of 7.82, with his best figures of 3 for 26 coming against the Sydney Sixers.
After being drafted by the Hurricanes in BBL 14 but unable to feature, the 23-year-old made an impact this season, finishing as the team’s leading wicket-taker. He was frequently deployed early in the innings, often straight after the Powerplay, playing a crucial role for his side.
All-rounder Nikhil Chaudhary, captain Nathan Ellis, and pacer Chris Jordan were the other nominees for the award.
Rishad is currently busy taking part in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) for Rawalpindiz.
