The Bangladesh women's football team secured a morale-boosting 2-0 win over Kasem Bundit Women's FC in Bangkok on Monday as part of their preparations for the upcoming SAFF Women’s Championship in Goa, India.
Anika Rania Siddique handed the women in red and green the lead in the 15th minute before Umehla Marma sealed the victory in the 77th minute.
According to a media release, Peter Butler’s side dominated the Thai first-tier women’s outfit throughout the match with organised and attacking football.
The coaching staff expressed satisfaction with the overall performance, saying the match provided valuable preparation, confidence and motivation for the players ahead of the SAFF tournament.
Bangladesh are scheduled to play another closed-door friendly on May 17 before leaving Thailand for Goa on May 21.
The players will enjoy a rest day on Tuesday, with only recovery sessions involving stretching and swimming on the agenda.
The SAFF Women’s Championship will be held from May 25 to June 6, with back-to-back champions Bangladesh set to face Maldives and India in the group stage.
