BOA disburses Tk 32.4 lakh among medal winning athletes
The Bangladesh Olympic Association (BOA) on Monday disbursed a total of Tk 32.4 lakh in cash awards among athletes and officials for their performances in the 3rd Asian Youth Games and the 6th Islamic Solidarity Games at the Kurmitola Golf Club.
Bangladesh men's and women's kabaddi teams won bronze medals at the Asian Youth Games, held in October in Bahrain. Each team received Tk 8 lakh, while the coaching staff were awarded a combined Tk 3.2 lakh for their contributions.
At the 6th Islamic Solidarity Games, held in November in Turkey, Bangladeshi shuttlers Javed Ahmed and Khoi Khoi Sai Marma secured a silver medal in the mixed event. Weightlifter Marzia Akter Iqra claimed three bronze medals in snatch, clean & jerk, and total lifting, while Shikha Khatun won a bronze medal in the wushu event.
Javed and Khoi Khoi received Tk 1.5 lakh each, Iqra was awarded Tk 6 lakh, and Shikha received Tk 2 lakh for their achievements. The badminton, weightlifting and wushu coaches were also rewarded with Tk 60,000, Tk 1.2 lakh and Tk 40,000 respectively.
