‘Feels great to share dressing room with seniors’
A return to the national side is a redemption opportunity for any cricketer. And after an interval of one year, off-spinner Nayeem Hasan expressed his desire to bowl with greater patience as he was drafted into the squad for the two-match Test series against Sri Lanka.
"In Test cricket, one has to bowl consistently in the right areas," Nayeem told the reporters about his interactions with the spin bowling coach Rangana Herath.
"He advised me to bowl with patience. I have also shared things while working with Sohel [Islam] sir," he added.
The right-armer showed signs of promise in the recently-concluded Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL) as he bagged 14 wickets in three matches with an innings' best figures of six for 48. Nayeem believes his experience in the longer-version cricket at the domestic level would help him in the series.
"We play four-day cricket in BCL [Bangladesh Cricket League] and NCL [National Cricket League] and have to bowl for a long time, so there won't be any problem," the 22-year-old said as he went on to talk about his preparations ahead.
"I've seen all of their videos and planned accordingly. If I get the opportunity, I may take advantage of it."
Furthermore, Nayeem expressed his excitement of returning to the national side after being left out for a year. He looks forward to learning from the seniors with the experience of being inside the dressing room environment.
"I thank the Almighty for getting the opportunity again. It feels great to share the dressing room with the seniors and can learn a lot from them. The environment here is very good."
