Tigers lose momentum following Kock, Rossouw onslaught

Star Sports Report

Despite losing skipper Temba Bavuma in the first over, South Africa batters have made a strong start after electing to bat first against Bangladesh in the two teams' second Super 12 fixture of the T20 World Cup in Sydney today.

South Africa are 91 for one in 10 overs after rain interrupted proceedings halfway into the sixth over, which saw the introduction of Mustafizur Rahman. Rilee Rossouw has quick-fired his way to a fifty off 30 balls, while opener Quinton de Kock is also unbeaten on 37 off 26 balls.

Bangladesh struck early with Taskin Ahmed, who conceded only two runs in his first over, but the pacer paid the price for bowling a no ball in his second, which initiated opener de Kock striking four boundaries in the over, including a six.

Rossouw, at one down, raised the tempo further with a flurry of lusty blows. Seamer Hasan Mahmud first took the beating with consecutive boundaries, including a six, before Mehedi Hasan Miraz, who replaced Yasir Ali in the playing eleven, got punished with a couple of sweep shots that went for maximums.
