‘Records can change’: Tamim hopeful before SA ODIs

Just as Bangladesh had gone to New Zealand and surprised the cricket world with a Test win -- their first on Kiwi soil in any format -- the Tigers will be asked to assail a similar peak as they gear up for the upcoming ODI and Test series away to South Africa this month. ODI captain Tamim Iqbal was hoping of drawing inspiration from that win and hoping members of that Test side in Mount Mauganui will share their experience to give his team more mental resilience before what should be a tough tour.

‘Need to put a full stop’

Bangladesh national team’s team director Khaled Mahmud struck a conciliatory tone over Shakib Al Hasan’s remarks regarding him not being ready to play international cricket while making it clear that the board needs to put a ‘full stop’ to such situations where a senior player can pick or choose what formats he is willing to play right before a series.

South Africa stick with tried and trusted for Bangladesh ODI series

‘The situation is not normal’

What comes next? Will Shakib Al Hasan ultimately tour South Africa or will he only be available for the Test series? Does the team management have any failsafe mechanism in place if the premier all-rounder ultimately sticks to skipping the series?

Liton’s form the only difference in dissimilar results?

The results of the T20Is stood in stark contrast in terms of margins of victory after Afghanistan won the second T20I at Sher-e-Bangla national Stadium today to share the spoils with Bangladesh. Having won the first T20I by 61 runs, the Tigers' batting capitulated today in the face of some tight and accurate bowling from Fazalhaq Farooqi, Mohammad Nabi and Azmatullah Omarzai. But overall, in terms of Bangladesh's batting display in the two T20Is, Liton's 44-ball 60 was the only key difference in the margin of the results. The difference between 155 and 115 was Liton's form with the bat and it raises further questions about the rest of the side's batting effort this series. Leading up to the World Cup in Australia on the back of disappointing losses in the T20 World Cup, Tigers' think tank knows there is a lot of improvement to be made, but more importantly do they know what they are lacking?
