It is not simply an attempt to remember Ayub Bachchu. It is an attempt to make sure the next generation gets to discover him. He left behind songs, melodies, guitars and memories. But his greatest legacy may be the musicians and listeners who refuse to let those songs fade. That is “Uttoradhikar”—the inheritance of music, passed from one generation to the next.

Today marks the birth anniversary of the legendary musician. Had he been alive, the Bangladeshi rock icon would have turned 64.

Born today in 1962, in Chattogram city, Ayub Bachchu came into this world with just fifty-six years in hand. His father wanted a unique name for his son, unlike common names like Ayub Ali or Ayub Hossain. Taking distinct parts from two names, he was christened Ayub Bachchu. From then on, he became “one and only”.
