CONMEBOL president Alejandro Dominguez has reiterated his support for expanding the 2030 FIFA World Cup to 64 teams, saying on social media that the centenary edition should feature a larger field.

The top league will comprise 36 countries - determined by the restructured 2028/29 UEFA Nations League - and be divided into three groups of 12 teams.

The 2030 World Cup not only could have its most number of teams ever, it is already set to be played on three continents and in six different countries.

Advocates have charged that Morocco was indiscriminately ridding its streets of strays ahead of the global sporting event it will jointly host with Portugal and Spain.

UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin said on Thursday it would be "a bad idea" for FIFA to expand the World Cup to 64 nations for the 2030 tournament.
