Bangladesh is scrambling to save a six-match cricket tour by neighbour India next month with the foreign ministers of both nations roped in to try to salvage the series.

The National Sports Council (NSC) has reconstituted the ad hoc committees of 27 sports organisations, including 26 national federations and the Bangladesh Mahila Krira Songstha (BMKS), with instructions to hold elections within the next 90 days.

The newly appointed sports state minister has asked federations to submit a consolidated report within a week outlining their activities over the past year, obstacles to holding elections, relations with district sports associations, annual calendars, and lists of national players.

Held under the banner of the government's Festival of Youth, concerns remain over the availability of some district stadiums being used as temporary army camps.
