NSC reshuffles 27 sports federations, names Shukla head of women's sports association
The National Sports Council (NSC) has reconstituted the ad hoc committees of 27 sports organisations, including 26 national federations and the Bangladesh Mahila Krira Songstha (BMKS), with instructions to hold elections within the next 90 days.
One of the most notable appointments is that of Supreme Court senior lawyer Barrister Sarwat Siraj Shukla, who has been named president of the new 29-member ad hoc committee of the BMKS.
National Sports Award-winning shooter Sharmin Akhter Ratna has been appointed general secretary. The committee has been tasked with conducting elections within three months before handing over responsibilities to an elected body.

Among the other major changes, Bangladesh's first Grandmaster Niaz Morshed has been appointed general secretary of the Bangladesh Chess Federation.
The Archery Federation has appointed its founding general secretary Kazi Rajib Uddin Ahmed Chapal as president, replacing the previous leadership. Former national archer Tanvir Ahmed has been named general secretary.
In other appointments, Ishtiaque Sadeque, son of legendary player Abdus Sadeque, has been made general secretary of Bangladesh Hockey Federation.
Mohammad Israil Howlader, commissioner of Gazipur Metropolitan Police, has been made general secretary of the Bangladesh Kabaddi Federation, while Sakif Shamim, managing director of LabAid Group, will serve as general secretary of the Bangladesh Shooting Sport Federation. Ratna will also serve as joint general secretary of the shooting federation.

Several office-bearers from the previous interim committees have retained their positions. The general secretaries of the Gymnastics, Boxing and Wushu federations have also remained unchanged despite changes in other positions.
The Ministry of Youth and Sports had earlier formed a 20-member committee to recommend reforms for Bangladesh sports.
