Souls, one of Bangladesh’s most influential bands, has unveiled a new version of its timeless song “E Emon Porichoy”.

To mark the birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore, legendary Bangladeshi band Souls has released a special rendition of the iconic song “Megh Boleche Jabo Jabo Ebar”, featuring vocals by Partha Barua. The track premiered on the band’s YouTube channel and Spotify on Thursday (May 7) at 5:00pm.

Souls frontman Partha Barua believes band musicians should refrain from releasing solo tracks while actively performing with their groups, arguing that such ventures often harm the collective identity and unity of a band.

Back when cassettes were still a part of everyday life, my dad had a drawer overflowing with cassettes by Souls and Renaissance. I’d often hum along to songs like “Mon Shudhu Mon Chhuyechhey”, “Bhalo Lagey Jotsna Ratey”, and “O Nodire Tui Jaas Kothaire.” The melodies and lyrics felt magical, and I remember wishing to someday meet the person behind these songs.

“Nazrul Concert 2025” is set to take place today at 5 pm at Manik Mia Avenue in the capital, featuring performances from ten prominent Bangladeshi bands. Participating bands include Warfaze, Souls, Dalchhut, Ark, Shironamhin, Different Touch, MNB, Rebel, Black, and F Minor.

The Kabi Nazrul Institute is set to release a special album featuring ten motivational songs by National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam. To mark the launch, a large-scale concert will be held on May 30 at Manik Mia Avenue, with performances by ten prominent bands.
